Fifield Place/Ave Road Construction
Updated 9/10/2019
The University has informed CTC of the official road closure of Fifield Place and Fifield Ave (North of Gibbs Ave) effective Wednesday, July 10, 2019. The University is the managing agent of the road construction project. CTC Management Team is working in conjunction with the University and contractors to facilitate the project process. The entire road project is projected to be completed by end of September 2019.
This project will affect all residents, but especially the residents living on Fifield Place and Fifield Ave (North of Gibbs Ave). During this last phase of road construction, parking will be reduced and through traffic not allowed. We understand this will be an inconvenience for those residents who will not be able to park their vehicles in front of or near their apartment.
Ongoing and updated information can be found here on the CTC Website. In addition to the website, all future communications will be sent electronically. If you have changed your email address, or if you are not receiving emails from us, please update your information by emailing ctc@umnctc.org.
Please read the important information below. If at any time you have questions, please contact the CTC office 651-646-7526 or ctc@umnctc.org. Please familiarize yourself by reviewing the construction site area map.
Construction Details:

Any vehicles remaining after this time will be towed at owner’s expense. We suggest moving your vehicle Tuesday to an alternative location.
- No Drive-Through Traffic: No vehicles are allowed to drive through the construction zone at any time. Alternate routes must be used to access apartments. This is for your safety, and to avoid potential damage to the site resulting in more expense and delays.

Vehicles without valid permits are subject to ticket, tow or vehicle immobilization. No vehicles are allowed to park in the construction zone or yellow stripped road markings and yellow at any time. Parking regulations still apply during this construction time. Vehicles without valid permits are subject to ticket, tow or vehicle immobilization. Seven parking spaces will be temporarily reserved for staff, as displayed in the North Lot on the map in green. Following the same regulation as the pre-existing staff parking, residents cannot park in staff parking spaces Monday through Friday from 6 am - 6 pm; after-hours and weekend parking in these spaces is permitted. Yellow stripped road markings and yellow curbs are no parking zones, vehicles in these areas will be ticketed or towed.
- Avoid Construction Area: Barrier fences will be installed in all active construction areas. This is being done for the protection of both our residents and construction workers. Please do not attempt to cross these barriers, and keep an eye out for your children during this time.
- Pedestrian Traffic Rerouted: A temporary Road Crossing will be available for most of the construction project, but will be closed periodically. Please view the map above for an alternative route to gain access to the North side of the Community Center.
- South Entrance of Community Center Closed: The Fifield Place entrance to the Community Center will be inaccessible due to the sidewalk leading up to the entrance also being remodeled. Please use the north entrance for all Community Center purposes, such as accessing CTC’s office, CCCC’s office and child drop off/pick-up, room reservations, and the laundry card add value station.
- Emergency Service and USPS Mail Access: All emergency (911) service (Fire, Medical or Police) vehicles will have access to the construction areas in the event of an emergency. The USPS mail carriers will deliver any items to the obstructed mailbox clusters by foot, ensuring ceaseless mail delivery for all residents during the construction.
- Moving Out in the Area? If you live in the construction zone, and are planning on moving out during the time your road is closed, please plan accordingly.
The University of Minnesota and CTC Management Team will continue working hard to make the place you live a safe and enjoyable environment for years to come. Thank you in advance for your cooperation during the final stage of this road construction project. View supplementary document of official notice + comprehensive map.
