CTC Board: January Update
Quarterly update from the Board of Directors, detailing the Shoveling Policy, Audit Review FY 2019-2020, and Referral Reward Program, plus a save the date for the Annual Members Meeting (May 27, 2021)!
Helloooooo CTC!
We hope everyone is taking it easy during winter break. Listed below are the updates from the Board of Directors from October-December 2020 for your review and action!
Shoveling Policy
All households are required to shovel their respective sidewalks of all snow/ice after a snowfall. Starting this year, a fee will be charged for sidewalks that are not cleared (to the full width of the sidewalk down to the pavement) within 48 hours of snowfall. View full Snow Shovel/Ice Removal Policy here.
- One-Bedrooms: Shovel stairs and alcove under awning on your side of the building’s entrance
- Two- and Three-Bedrooms: Shovel front and back sidewalks
Audit Review FY 19-20
The Audit of the 2019-2020 Fiscal year was conducted and approved by the board and Finance committee.
No co-op patronage refund checks will be distributed for the year, following the recommendation of both the Finance Committee and CTC Management, since the remaining funds nearly matches the cost to distribute the checks themselves. Meanwhile, the University requires an increasing amount of co-op money in the upcoming fiscal year, corresponding with the need for a rental increase in July 2021. Thus, the remaining funds from the FY 2019-2020 budget will be put in the deficit reserves and will be used to offset the rent increase required by the University.
Current $100 Referral Reward
Due to the pandemic, there is a lack of incoming residents. Please recommend CTC to friends and colleagues as a housing option so our co-op can continue to run at full capacity. Plus, you will receive a $100 credit to your rental account for referring new residents who move in by February 15, 2021 (and the new resident will also get $200 off their first full month's rent!!) - see full referral reward terms + conditions here.
Annual Meeting + Open Board Seats
Member-Required Event: Save the date to join our Board of Directors for our second-ever virtual Annual Members Meeting on the evening of May 27, 2021.
Our Board of Directors has four open positions for the upcoming 2021-2023 term that the membership will vote upon prior to the meeting. Any co-op member in good standing can run for an open board position. We seek board candidates who are passionate about our community and strive to make a positive impact.
Misc. Reminders
- Security cameras are up and running. The Board voted to put signage up to notify those on CTC property that cameras are in use; the signs should be up in the spring.
- University Capital expenditures (spending to maintain or improve the CTC buildings and property) are frozen for the next two years, excluding the bare minimum.
- The University ceases to allocate any current or future capital funds into the 1-bedroom buildings and the two-bedroom split buildings – leaving all financial obligation of full maintenance/repairs/replacements to the co-op for these buildings
Sincerely,
Tamara (Tammy) Walsky, Board Representative
