Fire Extinguisher Exchange 2024
Annual Fire Extinguisher Exchange
Required Event for all CTC Households
CTC has the responsibility to keep all of our residents safe, which includes keeping fire extinguishers up to date and fully functioning. CTC does not operate with much disposable funding, thus to keep rent dues as low as possible and redirect as many resources back into the community, we need your help to exchange the fire extinguishers in our community.
We hire an outside company to make the switch, in which each exchange day costs us a significant amount of money for the service. Therefore, to use our resources most efficiently, we need someone for each household to bring their fire extinguisher to the event, trading in for a new one to bring home.
Exchange Event Details
- Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17
- 7:30 am-5:00 pm
- Community Center Garages behind the CTC Office (facing north/Commonwealth Ave/UMN St. Paul campus)

Exchange Process
Enter the service door near garage on the northside of the Community Center building.
- Drop Off: Place old fire extinguisher on table
- Check in: Tell staff origin of old extinguisher (e.g. your CTC home address, laundry room's building number)
- Pick up: Take new extinguisher for replacement
Then exit by following signs posted. The exit door is different than the door you initially entered through.
What if I Can't Make the Exchange?
If you are unable to attend, please ask a friend, neighbor, or Ward Rep to exchange your fire extinguisher for you. It doesn’t matter who completes the exchange—just ensure that it gets done. Ensure you plan ahead if you ask someone else, as you may have to provide access to your unit or pass along the extinguisher.
Fee for Non-Participants: If you're unable to find someone to help, our maintenance staff can handle the replacement for you for a fee.
